Over the last twenty years there has been a big influx in the popularity of conservatories. They are a fantastic way to add extra living space to a home and are far cheaper than a traditional brick built extension. Thanks to improvements in technology modern conservatories are built using double glazing and uPVC making them cheaper to construct, energy efficient and low maintenance. It is therefore not surprising that they have become so popular. However with this popularity many people are asking how do they keep their uPVC conservatory clean?
When you first have a uPVC conservatory fitted they literally sparkle and look fantastic. Unsurprisingly people want to keep them looking like this for as long as possible. It is recommended that you clean your conservatory regularly as this will help to reduce the build up of dirt which can discolour your conservatory.
Conservatories tend to be rather large therefore cleaning one can sometimes seem like a daunting task. If there is someone that can give you a hand this can be really beneficial as it can help to have someone to hold ladders etc. Try splitting the conservatory up into sections and cleaning a section at a time as this will make the job seem less daunting. Clean the outside on a dry day and save the inside for a rainy day when you cannot go outside.
The outside of a conservatory usually takes longer to clean than the inside as the inside is protected whereas the outside is exposed to elements. Although it will be more enjoyable to clean the outside on dry day try to avoid a day when the sun is shining very brightly as this can cause the windows to dry streaky. As a general rule you should start at the top and work your way down. By far the messiest part of the job will be emptying the gutters of moss, leaves and twigs but apart from that the rest should only require wiping with a sponge and a mild detergent diluted in hot water.
Adding a conservatory to your home is a big investment and it is therefore very important that you look after it to ensure that it looks good and provides you with enjoyment for many years to come.
